Explore the gateway to the south: the landscape reminiscent of southern Italy and full of cultural treasures.

The wide Adige valley with romantic vines, orchards, cypresses, cedars and pines, which accompany the South Tyrolean Wine Route on its way through the Überetsch to the picturesque village of Neumarkt, stands out like a fairytale garden.
Thanks to its central location in the valley of the South Tyrolean lowlands - a region rich in tradition and rich in small, characteristic villages that in the past passed along the trade routes and along the Adige (formerly still navigable) - the medieval village is an important administrative and trading centre for valuable raw materials that came into the region from the south. The stately houses with their light-flooded courtyards and double arcades as well as the historic arcades from the 16th century still captivate with their charm and remind us of the cultural and economic importance of this idyllic village. At each corner you will find striking stone fountains and colourful facades decorated with ivy, characterised by their typical oriels. The quiet centre of the village adheres to the original traditions and preserves them with large village festivals such as the annual Arcade Festival. But it is also a romantic place, famous for its excellent, award-winning wines such as Pinot Noir.

Also worth a visit is the Museum of Everyday Culture, which exhibits antique furniture, tools and many other historical objects in the reconstructed housekeepers of past times.  The monastery in Laag is also historic - a beautiful Romanesque building from the 12th century, which was used within its monarchic walls as a hospice for pilgrims on their way to Rome (to the Vatican) or Jerusalem. Among them was the famous German painter Albrecht Dürer, to whom the beautiful Dürerweg was dedicated. This leads from Salurn to the earth pyramids of Segonzano in the Cembratal (Trentino).

The Castelfeder biotope above Neumarkt is also worth seeing: the "Arcadia of Tyrol", as the hill was called by Romantic painters, is surrounded by legends and mysteries. A unique cultural site, with traces of Early Stone Age and medieval settlements and the remains of a Romanesque fortification wall that will take you on a journey through time. There are also a variety of sporting activities such as the South Tyrol Marathon, the numerous hiking trails in the Trudner Horn Nature Park and the extensive cycle paths that lead as far as Kaltern to Lake Caldaro - an ideal destination for all those who want to relax and take a dip in the cool water on warm days.
