ANNO 1869 - Inauguration time capsule

To celebrate the Jubilee of the First ascent of the Cima Grande by Paul Grohmann, Peter Salcher and Franz Innerkofler, the idea was born of leaving a mark and talking to those who will come after us using the evocative power of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, a monument symbolizing the Dolomites World Heritage.

Near the Locatelli hut, on 21st August, a time capsule will be installed and sealed: a specially prepared container that will hold objects or information destined to be found in the future. In our case the chasuble will be reopened in 50 years, in 2069. 

The Jubilee of the first ascent of the Cima Grande, in fact, is not only about the mountaineering enterprise itself, but also requires reflection and wants to draw attention to the fragility of a good, the Dolomites, which we take for granted but which is extremely susceptible and with which we deal every day, not always with a positive and respectful attitude.
