Ausstellung: Max Brenner - HOW WIDE IS A SMILE?
About the event
The Kunstforum Unterland presents an exhibition featuring works by the artist Max Brenner from May 30 to June 13, 2026.
“How wide is a smile?” explores shifts in perception in an age of visual overload. Artist Max Brenner presents works combining painting and textile screen printing, based on digital imagery transformed into dense visual networks. Violence, crisis, and uncertainty appear as fragmented streams of images without clear hierarchy. At the center stands a goblin-like grimace composed of countless motifs, symbolizing a collective visual memory. The exhibition is complemented by the wooden relief series “Flowers,” in which atomic weapons are presented as stylized consumer objects. The exhibition questions the limits of perception where fear, information, and aesthetics become inseparably intertwined.
