Authors in Merano in Italian language - Meeting with Sabina Guzzanti

An actress, writer and director, Sabina Guzzanti combines comedy, irony and social commentary. Following her success on television, she turned her focus to political and social issues. In 2003, her programme “Raiot” was cancelled after just one episode, prompting her to take it to the theatre with “Reperto Raiot” and to make the documentary Viva Zapatero! (2005), on freedom of expression. She returned to directing with Le ragioni dell’aragosta (2007) and made her theatre debut with Vilipendio (2008). With Draquila – L’Italia che trema (2010), she recounts the L’Aquila earthquake. This was followed by Franca, la prima (2011), a tribute to Franca Valeri, and La trattativa (2012). In 2015, she staged Come ne venimmo fuori, a satire on the economy.
