Concert by the Euterpe Mandolin Orchestra and the Acanthis Choir
About the event
For both ensembles, this marks a musical premiere in Merano - a performance that will bring together choral and mandolin music. A musical journey that combines the expressive power of choral singing with the refined sound of the mandolin orchestra. The concert features a varied and moving repertoire, in which the choir’s voices will intertwine with the delicate timbre of the plucked instruments, creating evocative and captivating atmospheres. From folk traditions to singer-songwriter music and original arrangements, the evening will offer the audience an experience rich in harmony, emotion, and shared musical culture.
The concert will be divided into three parts: the Acanthis Choir will open with pieces by Stefan Fieser, Johann van der Sandt, Weiss-Peretti-Creatore, and a South African piece. The Euterpe Orchestra will follow with pieces by Alberto La Rocca, Amedeo Amadei, Katsumi Nagaoka, and Raffaele Calace. Finally, both musical ensembles will perform together, presenting pieces by Ni Bhraonain/Nick Ryan/Roma Ryan, Harry Warren, Brendan Graham & Rolf Lovland, and Richard Genée.
