‘The Baggage Room’ is a tribute to all the Italian and European migrants who, between the the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, left their homeland to seek a better future in America. Ellis Island was their first port of call, and the ‘baggage room’ represented a space of transition, full of hope and uncertainties, where personal belongings mingled with the dreams and fears of a new life in the new world.
