About the event
This guided E-MTB tour combines sporting activity with true South Tyrolean moments of indulgence and authentic insights into traditional farming. A good level of fitness is required, as there are still some climbs even with e-bike assistance.
The tour starts at the Schenna Tourist Office. Together with bike guide Stephan, you head toward the valley on varied paths with stunning views over the Merano region.
The first delicious stop is at the Boarbichl farm cheese dairy. During a guided tour of the cheese-making process, you’ll gain fascinating insights into the farm’s milk processing and learn about traditional cheese production. Of course, a tasting of the specialties is included – a true taste experience straight from the mountain farm.
Next, the tour continues to lunch at the Hochwies inn. A typical knödel (dumpling) trio or alternatively a pasta dish with salad is served, each including a drink – energizing and perfect for continuing the sporting tour.
Well nourished, the route heads downhill toward Verdins. At the Verdinser Mill, Hanspeter passionately explains his speck production. You’ll learn about spices, curing times, and craftsmanship – and naturally, a tasting completes this authentic experience.
The indulgent finale is a visit to Gröberhof. Here, everything revolves around the apple: during a tasting of various apple products, you’ll experience the diversity of South Tyrolean apples – from fresh juice to refined specialties.
Total distance: 25 km
Elevation gain: 1,160 m
Difficulty: medium – for sporty E-MTB riders with good fitness
Tour from 16 years. Requirements: safe and confident cycling skills, including good balance even at slow speeds. The tour includes some steep descents.
If you don’t have your own E-MTB, one can be rented at a special price at the Tourist Office. Bikes are provided by E-Bike Schenna – Schennaer Straße 31 (including helmet, lock, and charger). Bikes must be picked up before the tour.
