About the event

Museums uniting a divided world

“Museums uniting a divided world” – this year’s theme for the International Museum Day highlights the special role museums play in a time of global challenges and social tensions. Museums can build bridges – between generations, cultures and different ways of life.

To mark this year’s International Museum Day, the Typewriter Museum aims to build bridges in many directions with a very special event: in collaboration with the Partschins section of the South Tyrol Alpine Club, the museum is presenting Karin Ortler’s book *Die Julius-Payer-Hütte*, published in 2025 to mark the 150th anniversary of the Payer Hut.

Alongside the author, several guests of honour and eyewitnesses will offer fascinating insights into the history of the hut.(the event will be held in German)

The event begins on Sunday, 17 May at 10 am. The museum will then remain open until 5 pm with free admission.
