Mahler Academy Orchester, Piano-Solist Leif Ove Andsnes
About the event
The Busoni-Mahler Foundation in Bozen, in cooperation with the Toblach Cultural Centre, has established a unique Mahler original sound project: they bring together 50 outstanding professionals from Europe's top ensembles with 50 young musicians and play on the historical instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic from 1900. After more than 100 years, Mahler's 5th Symphony will be heard for the first time in Toblach in its reconstructed orchestral sound.
In another premiere, Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes will perform Rachmaninov's third piano concerto on a historical Steinway. This instrument was chosen by Rachmaninov for his legendary New York performance of the concerto in 1910. The conductor was Gustav Mahler.
Programm:
Sergei Rachmaninow: Klavierkonzert Nr. 3, op. 30 in D minor
Gustav Mahler: Symphonie Nr. 5 in C sharp minor
