Theatre play in Italian - LE DIEU DU CARNAGE
|
About the event
In a middle-class living room, two sets of parents meet to settle a violent row between their respective children.
Amidst cutting remarks and sudden tensions, the polite, ‘adult’ façade crumbles, revealing the ‘God of Carnage’ that may lurk within each of us.
Le Dieu du carnage continues to be staged on theatres around the world; this comedy, with its corrosive humour and carefree cynicism by Yasmina Reza – winner of a Laurence Olivier Award and a Tony Award for Best Play of the Year – holds up a distorting mirror to the audience, in which they discover, not without bitter embarrassment, something that concerns them very closely.
Directed by Antonio Zavatteri, the play becomes a merciless lens on human behaviour. Evolution has not erased the instinct for supremacy, the desire to annihilate the other.
By Yasmina Reza.
Directed by Antonio Zavatteri.
Starring Francesca Agostini, Andrea Di Casa, Alessia Giuliani, Antonio Zavatteri.
Produced by the Teatro Nazionale di Genova.
