About the event

Neustift Abbey presents two exhibitions at the Abbey Museum dedicated to its historic photographic archives.

For over 150 years, both extraordinary and everyday moments from life in the monastery and its parishes have been captured through photography.

The travelling exhibition “Traces of Light - Photographs from the Neustift Abbey Archives” presents reproductions of selected photographs and offers insights into the life of the monastic community and its parishes.

The small exhibition “Traces of Memory - The Photographic Archives of Neustift Abbey”, shown at the Abbey Museum, focuses on the archive itself. Historic prints, photo albums, postcards, and historic cameras illustrate how photographs were collected and preserved in the monastery and safeguarded as part of its collective memory.
