Passing lake Mittersee and Lake Carezza through the Carezza Forest to Obereggen

Departure at 9 am on the hiking bus from Steinegg|Collepietra towards the Karer Pass. Our hike begins at the venerable Grand Hotel Carezza, which still bears witness to the splendour of bygone days. From there, the trail leads us to lake Mittersee, a fleeting natural wonder: for just a few weeks in spring, meltwater fills the meadow – a tranquil, mirror-like lake emerges, only to vanish again by summer. We continue to the legendary Lake Carezza, whose emerald-green waters not only enchant but are also the setting for ancient legends – perhaps the water nymph will even make an appearance? After a short walk around the lake, we hike along the path Templweg through the fragrant Carezza Forest, accompanied throughout by breathtaking views of the Latemar. A delightful detour takes us to the Häusler Sam mountain inn, where South Tyrolean specialities await us. Well fortified, we walk the final stretch to Obereggen, where the bus is waiting to take us back.



Walking time 3½ hours – Ascent 225 m – Descent 275 m – Route length 13 km

-Participation is FREE for guests staying at our member establishments in the Eggental valley and for local residents of the Eggental valley with a Locals Card

Otherwise, adults pay €10 and juniors (aged 6 to 13) €5



Guided walks will be cancelled in the event of bad weather. The programme is also subject to change at short notice.
