Riffian|Rifiano Waalweg path

We set off at 9 am on the hiking bus from Steinegg|Collepietra to Dorf Tirol|Tirolo, where we stroll past the sports ground and the Johanneum, a former church-run grammar school. At Castel Auer, we climb a very old flagstone path into the forest. After a series of gentle ups and downs, we reach the little village of Kuens|Caines. There, the ‘Seven Sorrows of Mary’ contemplation trail begins, leading to Riffian|Rifiano. Beautiful stations of contemplation made of Swiss pine accompany us. From Riffian|Rifiano, we then descend the path Rösslsteig to Saltaus|Saltusio, where we stop for a late lunch at the Bistro Camping.

A somewhat strenuous hike with some steep ascents and descents.

Walking time 4 hours – Ascent 350m – Descent 380m – Route length 10 km
