About Sulden-Stilfs

From Yak and Yetis, from mountaineering legends and alpinism - the quiet and secluded village of Sulden is surrounded by a dramatic backdrop in the heart of the Stelvio National Park.

The idyllic village of Sulden lies at an altitude of 1,900 metres in the middle of the fascinating fairytale alpine landscape of the Ortler area. Surrounded by 14 three-thousand-metre peaks, the village belongs to the municipality of Stilfs and, thanks to its unique scenery, which tells of King Ortler and his 14 neighbouring peaks, has developed from a modest mountain village into one of the most popular tourist destinations.

Far away from stressful everyday life you can watch a unique spectacle in Sulden: Every day, the 14 surrounding mountains seem to want to present themselves in all their splendour, and in their games with wind and weather, spring and autumn, summer and winter, they show off their numerous, colourful facets. One of them, however, is particularly noteworthy: with an impressive height of 3,905 metres, the Ortler - the highest peak in South Tyrol - rises proudly into the sky and invites passionate mountain enthusiasts to climb it on an adventurous tour.

Situated close to nature and gently clothed in snow, Sulden is a popular starting point for gentle winter sports, especially in winter, and invites ski-touring enthusiasts to hike through its beautiful alpine winter landscape. The nearby mountains of Monte Cevedale, Tuckettspitze or the Vertainspitze offer an unforgettable experience and a breathtaking panoramic view.

There are also a lot of cultural activities: On a museum tour in the "Ortles", you will be able to explore the theme of ice and be enchanted by legends, myths and secrets of cold white, while at the same time being aware of the mysterious and frightening figure that can take on the element of water in the mountains. In the Museum of the Ortler area you can also discover valuable exhibits that tell the history and culture of the Ortler during the First World War.
