Castel di Scena
The castle was built around 1350 by Petermann of Scena. Margaret of Tyrol was the last countess of the Tyrol family. A number of aristocratic Tyrolese families owned the castle over time. In 1845, archduke Johann bought the castle and after his death left it as an inheritance to his successors the counts of Meran. Still today, the castle along with the mausoleum in the church on the hill where the archduke Johann and his family found eternal peace and the Thurnehof lodging and farm are still owned by the counts of Meran. The castle now displays the biggest private collection of Andreas Hofer, many portraits of the archduke Johann's ancestors and a collection of weapons belonging to the centuries between the 12th and the 19th.
