Imperial Palace of Bressanone - Hofburg Brixen

A wonderful Renaissance style courtyard with Baroque style facades, closed to the west and east, an antique gate, the marble portal and the court Church towers are characteristic signs of the Bressanone Castle.

From the building of the Castle with moat, in the 16th century one of the most ornate renaissance style structures of South Tyrol arose. Until 1972 the castle was headquarters for the prince-bishops of Bressanone. Within the walls of the castle you can now see the Diocesan Museum with the sacred art from the Romanticism movement until the modern époque and the Museum of the nativity scenes and Diocesan archive.
