Neustift Abbey
Neustift Abbey
Just a few kilometres from Brixen rises Neustift Abbey, the largest monastic complex in the Tyrolean region. Founded in the 12th century, it impresses visitors today with its magnificent Baroque architecture and exquisite frescoes.
Among the highlights are the Baroque abbey church, the atmospheric medieval cloister with its wall paintings, the splendid library hall, the Chinese Cabinet, the Baroque abbey garden with herbs and flowers, the inner courtyard with the Wonder Fountain, and the Romanesque “Engelsburg”.
Since its foundation in 1142, Neustift Abbey has also owned its own vineyards. The grapes grown there are used in the abbey winery. During guided tastings and vineyard tours, groups discover wines full of character and learn how landscape, craftsmanship, and monastic tradition come together in every glass.
