On the Sonnenberg (sun mountain) above Algund lies the idyllic mountain village of Vellau at 950m.
The path from Algund to Vellau leads you through a varied landscape of vineyards, ancient chestnut groves to lush green coniferous forests. The small fraction of Algund with about 130 inhabitants was first mentioned in 1347 with the name "Velaw".
