Almenweg Mountain Pasture Trail in Racines|Ratschings - Description

The signposted “Ratschinger Almenweg” adventure hiking trail leads from Jaufenstraße street in the vast skiing and mountain pasture region of Racines, through high forest and mountain pastures, passing seven pastures, and on to the end of the Ratschingstal Valley. This hike is perfect for a longer day trip and recommended for families, the entire route is suitable for strollers. Public transport is recommended, local bus service Casateia – Kalcheralm parking lot and Hotel Larchhof – Casateia.

    Parking lot Kalcher Alm (1,822m)

    From the parking lot at the Jaufenstraße (1,822m; bus stop) dirt road no. 19B leads through high forest to Kalcher Alm alpine pasture (1,840m). From there it continues to Rinneralm (1,892m) and to Wasserfaller Alm alpine pastures (1907m). With a slight incline, you reach Saxnerhütte hut (1,939m). The next mountain pastures are äußere Wumblsalm and innere Wumblsalm. Trail no. 15 finishes at Klammalm pasture (1,925m), from where you descend with trail no. 12 to Vallettina. “Ratschinger Talweg” valley trail then leads along the brook to the bus stop at Hotel Larchhof (1,350m).
    Another option (shortens, e.g. with stroller) along this adventure hiking trail for the outward route is the Racines-Giovo mountain gondola.
