High-level hikes
To get to Gardeccia you can take the cable car from Vigo and then path no. 540 (in this case you should add 45 mins to the total time), or the chairlifts from Pera and then the forest road to Gardeccia (25 mins to total time). From Gardeccia take the dirt road marked path no. 546 and head for the Vaiolét valley, and the rocks known as the Porte Neigre.You will come to the path from the Passo da le Zigolade (no. 541) and you will soon reach the Preuss and Vajolet refuges at 2,243 m (1 hour). Next take path no. 584 to the Passo Principe (Principe Pass) but then turn left almost immediately to begin the climb up towards the Vaiolét towers (path no. 542). When you arrive you will find the re Alberto I refuge at 2,621 m (1 hour; 2 hrs).The basin is called the Gartl and is formed by the Vaiolét towers, the north face of the Catinaccio (Ciadenac) and the Crode di Re Laurino mountains. Now take the easy path across the scree to the Santner Pass (30 mins; 2 hrs 30).

    The excursion starts from Gardeccia (1,949 m). The Gardeccia valley can be reached in two ways: from Ciampedìe (from Vigo di Fassa you go up to Ciampedìe in the cableway and then walk along path no. 540, 45 mins; parking is right beside the valley station of the cableway) or from Pera di Fassa (by chair lifts Vajolet I/II and then on foot, 25 mins; car park by the chair lift).
    You return to Gardeccia by way of the same route. Follow the directions of outbound walk to return to Vigo or Pera di Fassa. Only the route from Gardeccia to Vajolet Refuge is suitable for families with children; the path is walkable with toddler-carrier/backpack too.

Main access points  to Val di Fassa, coming from the A22, Modena-Brennero motorway: - Ora / Egna exit, S.S. 48 delle Dolomiti - San Lugano Pass - Val di Fiemme - Val di Fassa (distance 45 km). At the roundabout in Moena, follow the direction of Canazei upwards; - Bolzano Nord exit, S.S. 241 Grande Strada delle Dolomiti - Carezza Pass -Vigo di Fassa (distance 40 km). From Vigo follow direction Canazei upwards or the direction Soraga di Fassa and Moena downwards; Other accesses to the Val di Fassa: - from the A27 motorway (Venice), Belluno / Ponte nelle Alpi exit, then take S.S. 203 to Agordo and S.P. 346 to San Pellegrino Pass - Moena (Val di Fassa). At the roundabout in Moena, follow the direction of Canazei upwards; - from the A27 motorway (Venice), exit Belluno / Ponte nelle Alpi, S.S. 203 to Agordo / Alleghe / Rocca Pietore first and S.P.641 to Fedaia Pass - Canazei; - coming from Arabba, S.S.48 Pordoi Pass - Canazei; - from Val Gardena, S.S.242 Passo Sella - Canazei.
Parking is right beside the valley station of the cable car (Vigo) or of the "Vajolet" chair lift (Pera).
