Malga Costa - Description

This track owes its name to the mountain hut located in the middle of its route, perched on a panoramic and sunny hill.
For those looking for a slightly longer run, the Malga Costa route offers an excellent challenge. After leaving the first section of the Campiol, the descent and the central part of the Torbiera behind, the skier goes right into the woods reaching a snow-covered hill. On it stands the Malga Costa, a refreshment point and also the turning point of the track. After a short stop to admire the view or a break to taste a typical dish, the long and constant climb begins, which takes you back to the Lavazè plateau, in the final stretch of the Campiol slope.

Directions

  • Start

    Passo Lavazè

The first section (up to km 2) is the same as Campiol's track, a further 2 km is the same as Torbiera's track. After 4 km, turn right following the signs for Malga Costa and enter the conifers forest again, descending to a sunny meadow from where you can already see the mountain hut (refreshment point).
A slight climb takes you to the top of the hill where the view sweeps over Latemar, Catinaccio, Corno Nero and Corno Bianco. Then you return to the woods where the last uphill stretch begins. At first you reconnect with the Torbiera track, then with a rather important final stretch, you reconquer the Lavazè plateau. The last few kilometers on the Campiol track allow you to relax and catch your breath.
