The Alpine Pasture Route in Luson|Lüsen - Description

In case of good weather, this daylong route on the Lüsner Alm alpine pasture against the backdrop of the Peitlerkofel mountain is an ideal hike for families and children. The Kreuzweisenalm pasture houses an alpine dairy where visitors can witness traditional cheese making and enjoy a tasting, if they wish. A shuttle service operates between Luson and the Herol parking lot as well as between the Oberflitt parking lot and Luson.

    Heroler parking lot

    From the Heroler parking lot (1,654m) follow the route no. 3 at the Reaswiesealm pasture in the high forest leading uphill and to the north. After a few bends in the road, cross the Tulper Gampis meadows (at1,811m) and turn right, eastwards at the start of the trail from Griablsteig along an up and down gradient as far as the treeline. After crossing a couple of wooded ditches, continue along a 4 km stretch past some mountain pastures before arriving at the Kreuzwiesenhütte hut (1,924m; alpine dairy and mountain tavern). On the way back, follow trail no. 2A (signposted as Schmalzhaussteig) descending down the Putzerbach ditch southwest through the woods as far as the Oberflitt parking lot (1,720 m; bus shuttle to Luson). Alternatively, descend down trail no. 2 past the Valetta hamlet, returning to Luson. The walk lasts about an hour.
