Gasthof Zum Hirschen
Welcome
The Hirschenhaus was called Wirtsbehausung Am Hirschen" in 1775 and is first referred to as such In a sales letter from the heirs of Christoph Rottenbucher in 1494; however, this house is much older. The Hirschenhaus is mentioned in the parish urbarium of Sarnthein in 1396, which is already mentioned in the testament of the Tyrolean Countess Eufemia (Duchess of Silesia and Carinthia, around 1280) of 1347. The Hirschenhaus with its old magnificent Gothic room was for most of its existence a guesthouse, although not the entire house; because in 1783 the municipality of Sarntal bought half of the Wirtsbehausung Zum Hirschen from the then owner Jakob Unterhofer as a schoolhouse and residence for the teacher (purchase price 450 guilders), and only around 1890 was the entire house used again as Hirschenwirt. Our old traditon-rich inn exudes an atmosphere of history and coziness, with its paneling, wooden walls, furniture, paintings and pictures bearing traces of past centuries. Our large garden in a tanquil location is an oasis of silence, beauty and relaxation. An ideal starting point for shorter, as well as more challenging hiking tours.
