The Val Casies/Gsiesertal Valley is a sunny side valley of the Val Pusteria/Pustertal Valley between the foothills of the Vedrette di Ries-Rieserferner chain and the Deferegg Alps. The twenty kilometer (twelve mile) long valley branches off toward the north near Monguelfo, and a well-maintained road leads through the broad valley past the villages of Colle, S. Martino and S. Maddalena.
