Rural charm and rural diversity with a splendid view of the white peaks of the Dolomites rising from deep green forests: Discover the charm of Olang.
In the Pustertal valley, at the foot of the popular ski paradise Kronplatz and in the middle of the nature park Fanes-Sennes-Prags, lies Olang - a peaceful village in the midst of lush green meadows and surrounded by the wonderful peaks of the Dolomites. The surrounding area around the small town, the area, is characterized by an eventful history that can be traced back to the Stone Age: Grave fields, burnt-offering sites and remains of historical settlements cross the countryside, and past treasures such as coins and rings from the Roman Empire also come to light. The baroque Ägydius church of Mitterolang attracts special attention, because the façade of the once gothic church is decorated with a large fresco of St. Christopher from 1500, and the further search for treasures of past times brings you to Oberolang. To commemorate the plague epidemic of 1448, the lace Stöckl was made with 4 frescoes of the Passion of Christ. It was finally the construction of the Pustertal Railway in 1871, under the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, which made tourism flourish in Olang.
The municipality of Olang is made up of the villages of Ober-, Mitter- and Unterolang and surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges. While the Braies Dolomites stretch out to the south, the breathtaking Rieserferner Group rises up to the north. Nearby is also the famous Kronplatz ski area, which can be reached via 24 different lifts and - in addition to a wonderful view - awaits winter guests such as skiers, snowboarders and tobogganists with more than 100 km of pistes and numerous trails for cross-country skiing and fairytale winter hikes.
But even those who spend their summers in the Valdaora will not be disappointed: countless hiking trails, mountain bike trails, bicycle tours and climbing trails lead you through the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park and the idyllic landscape of the Dolomites. There are also countless other leisure activities such as horse riding, archery, golf, tennis and - especially on hot summer days - swimming. Families with children in particular will feel at home here, as there is plenty of space to let off steam and explore suitable routes for pushchairs.
