Surrounded by green alpine meadows, Völs am Schlern lies underneath the impressive cliffs of the Schlern.

Völs am Schlern lies at the foot of the mighty Schlern massif and is therefore situated in the middle of the Dolomites. The village is located between Castelrotto and the Alpe di Siusi on one side and Tiers and the Rosengarten on the other. Scattered between woods and meadows, the small communities of the municipality are peacefully and peacefully surrounded by magnificent alpine meadows. The main town of Völs am Schlern is Untervöls. The village square, church and community centre are located here.

Fiè was first mentioned in a document in 888. Due to a flute-like instrument from the Copper Age excavated in the Schlern region - the oldest musical instrument found in South Tyrol - it is assumed that this area was already inhabited in the 4th millennium BC. Until his death in 1530, Leonhard von Völs-Colonna, governor of Tyrol, lived in the stately castle of Prösels, a wonderful castle that was renovated at the end of the 20th century and today serves as a magical setting for cultural events.

Protected in the forest at the foot of the Schlern lies the lake Völser Weiher. This small artificial lake was laid out in the 16th century by the then governor of Tyrol Leonhard von Völs-Colonna for fishing. The southern part of the lake Völser Weiher is today a protected biotope, while the northern part of the lake is used by locals and guests for swimming and refreshing cooling in the summer. Since the end of the 19th century, Völs has been used as a summer resort. One of the special highlights is a hay bath on the Schlern. The hay bath cures, a wellbeing recipe handed down by farmers, not only provide relaxation: the colourful flowers from the meadows of the meadows of the Alpe di Siusi and the various medicinal herbs are supposed to work wonders.
