Recommended tours

From Klausen there are many possible tours for you, along the vineyards and in the middle of the Eisacktal. All information can be found here.

Numerous attractions such as historical monasteries and castles, culinary specialities and various leisure activities await you in the charming town of Klausen, which invites you to romantic walks along the vineyards and chestnut groves.

Located in the heart of the lower Eisack valley, the medieval artistic town of Klausen awaits you with its extraordinary and varied surroundings. A landscape in which the German artist Albrecht Dürer has already found inspiration for his famous copper engraving "Das große Glück" (The Great Happiness). At the end of the 19th century, Klausen finally became a well-known meeting place for artists whose works are exhibited in the local town museum.

The picturesque and historic village centre - one of the most beautiful medieval centres in Italy - awaits you with its romanesque streets, beautiful facades of houses decorated with oriel windows, narrow and lined up in a wide variety of colours, traditional restaurants where you can enjoy pure culinary delights and numerous sightseeings.
Visit the town museum, in the old walls of the Capuchin monastery, and discover the mythical Loreto treasure, the art gallery and the museum gallery while you can enjoy a magnificent view of Chiusa and its surroundings from the Capuchin hill. Further highlights can be found in the impressive Branzoll Castle from the middle of the 13th century, in the winding Fortress of Säben and in the benedictine monastery of Säben, whose ivy-clad walls gracefully look down from the striking rock onto the town.

But also nature lovers are offered a lot: If you want to go out in the fresh air, out into the countryside, you can take pleasant walks along romantic vineyards and chestnut groves, sun-drenched mountain slopes and wide alpine meadows, set off on various hiking tours that lead to the Latzfons cross, among other things, or go on a cycle tour through the mountains and valleys.

Autumn in Klausen also promises fun and entertainment for the whole family. When you spend the golden autumn here, don't miss traditional city festivals like the Gasslfest with demonstrations of traditional craftsmanship, the Törggelefest or the culinary Birmehlherbst. Along the route from Pardell to Verdings, the latter offers numerous gastronomic specialities according to traditional and modern recipes.
