About the Eisacktal
Medieval villages, high summits and colorful vineyards and orchards: the varied and beautiful landscape of the Eisacktal delights in every season and extends in a green basin from Klausen to Brenner.
Join us on a thrilling journey through the Eisack Valley, which forms one of the main valleys of South Tyrol along the second largest river - the Eisack. Here, numerous villages with imposing mountains and a rich cultural landscape combine to create a valuable setting. In rushing fast the river finds its way into Franzensfeste. From here you can enjoy a magnificent view of the fruit trees of the idyllic apple plateau Natz-Schabs, before going to the episcopal city of Bressanone, the capital of the region. In its medieval center, you can stroll through winding streets, past burgher houses with their classic bay windows and, along historic walls, through the shops under the Brixner arbors.
The journey continues along the river - to numerous historic castles and monasteries, which prove the cultural treasure hidden in this region. For millennia, the Eisacktal has been the center of Mediterranean and Central European cultural influences: here once crossed the paths of ordinary citizens and merchants, with those traveling merchants and kings. Witnesses of these encounters lie in the
Trostburg or in the
Rodenegg Castle, which is one of the most important fortified castles of the time. A little further awaits you the small town of Klausen with its dense facades, which is known worldwide thanks to Albrecht Dürer's "The Great Luck". Around this place are fertile slopes that give the Eisacktaler white wine its tasteful flavor.
The valley is enchanting year-round with numerous leisure and sports activities, but invites especially in summer and winter for a trip into the mountains: From the famous ski resort on the Plose to Villnösstal up to the peaks of the Aferer Geisler in the Dolomites. Go on a hike on the Eisacktal Keschtnweg and be fascinated by its many facets, which leads you from Vahrn, through colorful mixed forests, mountain meadows and chestnut forests up to the heights of Ritten and in the basin of Bolzano.
Those who spend the autumn in the Eisacktal can enjoy the gold-colored landscapes with their impressive chestnut trees and enjoy the typical delicacies of South Tyrol during a toggle.
