An architectural jewel amidst woods and farms

On the way to La Crusc, holy place of reflection The sanctuary of La Crusc/Santa Croce, not only gives its name to one of the most imposing and spectacular Dolomite massifs in Alta Badia, but has also always been in the hearts of the valley's inhabitants. The church's whiteness, its long history handed down over the centuries and its enchanting position make it a favourite destination for pilgrims from all over the world. From the centre of San Cassiano, head towards Rüdeferia and then through the woods to the church of Santa Croce. From here you can admire a panoramic view of the whole valley, as far as the Marmolada. On the way back you will pass typical Ladin dwellings, les viles. A wonderful excursion, good for body and soul. Itinerary: San Cassiano (1,537 m) – Rüdeferia – La Crusc/S.Croce (2,045 m) – Pasciantadú – Castalta – Cianins – Tru di artisć artists’ path – San Cassiano Meeting point and time: 9.30 a.m. San Cassiano Tourist Office Bus stop and line: bus stop S. Cassiano (Badia), Strada Berto – line 465 l at 350 m Return: approx. 4.00 p.m. Distance: approx. 15 km Altitudine difference in ascent and in descent: ↑↓ approx. 710 m Walking time: approx. 5 hours Meal: packed lunch or break in a mountain hut Domestic animals and strollers are not allowed.
