Book presentation "Die Suldenstrasse" with Franz Angerer

About the event
A wooden box marked “waste paper for disposal” reveals a hidden treasure: more than 300 original documents and construction drawings tell the story of the building of the Solda Road into the Ortler region. When Franz G. Angerer discovers this collection among his family’s estate in 2025, a fascinating journey through time begins.
His great-grandfather and grandfather, both members of the road committee, documented how a simple mule track was transformed into a remarkable mountain road against all odds. The book pays tribute to Baron Leopold von Hofmann, whose testament laid the foundation for the project, to Dr. Theodor Christomannos, who pushed it forward, and to the many road builders and workers who brought life to the high valley. Through unique historical sources and personal memories, the history of South Tyrol comes alive – a contemporary document about the people whose destinies shaped the Solda Road.
