Europe: peace and war

Indeed, the question of peace and war has constantly accompanied history. It raises problems that are theoretical (what is peace?, what is war?, is war inevitable?, is war the cunning of reason?), ethical (is there a just war?, how to behave in the face of a manifestly unjust war?), political (is politics the pursuit of peace or the management of conflict for power?), legal (how is peace and war considered in current European constitutional arrangements? what does international law prescribe for the avoidance and/or legitimate conduct of war?, what norms does the military criminal law of war pose in an attempt to contain the inhumane effects of war?), and also economic (do wars generally economically impoverish entire peoples in order to financially enrich certain categories?).

The problems to be considered, therefore, are as many as there were many reasons for the choice of the topic to be studied in depth with the contribution of scholarly contributions from scholars from different countries (Austria, France, Italy, Poland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Spain, Hungary) and their serious and in-depth discussion.

There is more. Even in the present time there are several wars going on, which arise from different motivations and appetites. Among these those that most involve (directly or indirectly) Europe should be considered the Russia/Ukraine war (which involves issues of civilization, political, military and economic) and the Israel/Palestine war, which continues to make evident a difficult coexistence between peoples and states and whose repercussions are also significant for many European countries.
