Paris in the 1960s: Esther Perez gives birth to her sixth child, little Roland, who is born with a malformation of the foot. Despite advice and medical diagnoses, she promises Roland that on his first day of school he will walk to school on his own two feet, just like all the other children. With unwavering optimism, she does everything she can to give her son a normal life – for example through love and chansons.
