About the event
Nitai Hershkovits Trio (USA/GR)
Nitai Hershkovits: piano
Petros Klampanis: bass
Amir Bresler: drums
With ‘Call on the old wise’, pianist Nitai Hershkovits presented his remarkable solo debut for ECM at Carambolage last year. A success in Bolzano that also earned his stunning debut the title of ‘album of the year’ by the German Record Critics' Association.
With his trio, he continues his musical philosophy of lyricism and melody, which he has already presented in his solo programme drawing on wide-ranging influences, from his work in jazz contexts and contemporary avant-garde explorations to his background in classical music. An immaculate balance of idioms resulting in an abundance of colours and timbres from a pianist with a soft touch, light action and creative harmonies.
After his beginnings in Oded Tzur's quartet and the beautiful solo episode, it is therefore time to see him at work in the classic figuration of a truly varied trio in the company of Greek-born Petros Klampanis on bass, capable of providing the classic Mediterranean touch, and drummer Amir Bresler, a well-known figure in the contemporary jazz entourage.
