St. Kathrein church - Telescope Trail No. 12, Hafling

Coming from both directions of the freeway Meran - Bozen (MEBO), take the exit of Meran Süd/Merano Sud and follow directions towards Meran first, to then turn right towards Hafling/Avelengo, follow the street until the parking lot in Avelengo village (below the parish church). From there hike along trail no. 12 in direction Vöran.

The Telescopes it is meant to focus solely on a single building. Through this telescope you can see the little church of St. Kathrein.


With the bus until the bus stop "Tankstelle Hafling", follow the way no. 2 until St. Kathrein (15 min.):

- Bus no. 225 "Meran - Hafling - Falzeben/Vöran"

- Bus no. 156 "Hafling - Vöran - Mölten - Jenesien"

Telescope on the trail no. 12 (trail leads from Hafling village to the Alpenrose Inn in Vöran)with view on the St. Kathrein Church in Hafling.

The St. Kathrein Church was built on a site that was originally a pagan place of worship.The romanesque church with its Gothic apse, dates from the thirteenth century. It has well-preserved frescoes from the fourteenth century and a winged altar in the late-Gothic Tyrolean style (which can only be see through an opening in the portal).

The Telescopes cannot rotate: it is meant to focus solely on a single building.
