Stufles, the oldest district of Bressanone

Stufels, (pronounced "Shtufels"), is one of the hidden jewels of Brixen: Already populated in the stone age, built-up with villas at the time of the Romans, it is considered one of the most fascinating areas of the bishop's seat.

Lying between the Eisack and Rienz rivers, Stufels boasts picturesque historical buildings. The founding of the hydrotherapy spa hotel "Guggenberg" in 1890, was the spark which kindled the rise of tourism in Brixen.

The cellar theatre of the "Gruppe Dekadenz", founded in 1980, is one of the most important centres of cabaret and fringe theatre in the entire province.

Stufels , with its contemplative "Schutzengel" ("Guardian Angel") church, attractive shops and places of artistic interest, invites simply strolling about or alternatively taking a relaxing walk along the river banks. Visitors to Stufels approach the quintessence of Brixen: Quality of life in its most attractive form.
