The "Prader Sand"
The Alluvial Terrain beneath the Stelvio
The Prader Sand biotope is a flooded area along the Solda river, with its unique vegetation and is one of the few remaining swamps in South Tyrol. The Solda river once flowed unchecked across the Valley causing flooding and following its containment, the wetlands became considerably reduced. What remains of the former great expanse, is known as the Prader Sand.
Three different walking and hiking trails lead through this protected natural area of sand and swamp all the way to the fishermen’s lake and are also suitable for prams.
