Vedrette di Ries - Aurina Nature Park
Extending over an area of 31,505 hectares the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park includes the municipalities of Campo Tures, Perca, Rasun-Anterselva, Aurina and Predoi. With the "Hohe Tauern" Austrian Nature Park and "Zillertaler Hauptkamm" it is part of a national park of 2,475 square kilometres in total.
Part of this area covered by glaciers is the largest among all Nature Parks in Alto Adige. Steep and inaccessible peaks such as Collalto or Monte Nevoso rise to a height of 3,000 metres in the surrounding alpine landscape.
The Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park is also unique for its abundance of water. There is no shortage of waterfalls, ponds and lakes.
The Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park was opened in 1988 providing an environment of extreme conditions for both men and animals. "The extremes of nature and the extremes of mankind" are illustrated clearly in the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park Visitor Centre.
