Directions

  • Start

    Montesover

Start from Montesover (slightly to the north of the church) and follow the road to Baita Monte Pat and Malga Vernera. Keep climbing along the tarmac road, ignoring various crossroads with dirt roads along the way. Near spot height 1400 m, the road becomes dirt. Carry on in the direction of Malga Vernera, ignoring a sign for Valfloriana at a crossroads and passing Baita Monte Pat on the left. At Malga Vernera Bassa (1676 m), follow a forest road (signposted No. 468 SAT) that climbs gently along the slope. At the next crossroads, leave trail 468 for a somewhat bumpy tractor road and then follow trail 468/B until it reaches a crossroads near Camorè. There, bear right and downhill until you reach a forest road. Turn left and carry on diagonally along the slope on a spectacular dirt road that takes you to Rifugio Vasoni (1663 m). After a rest at the Rifugio, go back along the forest road until the crossroads you passed on your way up (where there is a sign for Malga Vernera). From the crossroads, you can either reverse the first part of the route or dive down a steep and technical mule path to get back to the starting place.
