Brogn da l'Ors Tour - Description

Lengthy descent down the southeast face of Doss del Sabion along ski slopes, trails, and forest roads and past malga huts.

Directions

  • Start

    Pinzolo-Prà Rodont lifts

Take the lifts, first the Pinzolo-Prà Rodont gondola lift and then the Prà Rodont-Doss del Sabion chair lift, up to Doss del Sabion. Looking out to the east (over a panorama of the Brenta Dolomites), turn left down the Rododendro ski run.
(Follow signs for 973) Follow route indicated past the first switchback to the right at Pass dal Gatt (do not continue down the ski slope) and then back to the left, continuing along the ski run until you get to a fork. Along this section, it is mandatory that you give the right of way to cyclists coming down the downhill runs.
At the fork in the ski run, keep to the left (the Competition run) and continue for about 100 yards. Turn left at the sign and follow the trail, which will take you to a dirt road in about 1km (six-tenths of a mile) at the village of Stablei.
Along the trail, there will be a number of sections that only the most expert cyclists will be able to take on. Others will want to get off and push or carry their bikes.
Pay close attention to any hikers you may encounter, and slow down or stop as seems appropriate under the circumstances.
From Stablei, continue down the cement ramps until you get to Malga Brogn da l’Ors.
Turn left and follow the road that will head flat across stream. Continuing along the main road, you will cross two more streams before the road becomes paved. Follow the paved road past the village of Mezul until you get to a crossroads. Take the middle road that continues down in the direction of Giustino. Stay on the main road until the village of La Baita, where you join up with the 972 itinerary. Follow this itinerary until Vadaione (following the 972 signs). Once you are in town, follow the 971 itinerary, which will take you back to the lifts.
