Castel Romano – Botanical Trail - Description

Start
Castel Romano (723 m)
From the car park go to the visitors centre at the entrance to the castle. Turn left immediately before the entrance and skirt the walls proceeding southwards. After a while you come to the viewing point near the electrical pylon.
From the viewing point take the trail on the right, which runs parallel to the previous trail.
This leads to a wonderful wooden staircase made with tree trunks, which descends on the right with a number of bends, leading down the entire difference in height of the route ( 80 m ).
The trail joins the dirt road between Cologna and Por.
Turn left and walk uphill, back northwards along the dirt road, alongside the foamy mountain stream that descends the valley.
After a while you reach an opening with a deposit belonging to the waterworks company. Turn left here and leave the road, continuing on the previous trail, up to the edge of a field in the middle of which sits a nice recently refurbished house.
Skirt the house on the right to the road linking the castle with the village of Por, walking alongside the road, on the left, back to the visitors centre and the car park. -
