From the rifugio the SAT 206 rises steeply to start with and then follows a moraine which leads to Passo Cercen (3.022m) reachable passing some rocky plates. From here, travelling up the glacier you will reach Sella Freshfield named after one of the first climbers on Presenella in 1864.
