Costazza Peak from Val Venegia - Description

Wonderful excursion at the foot of the Pale di San Martino, one of the most suggestive areas of Trentino.
Very popular route, in a truly unique environment. Val Venegia looks like something out of a storybook; the trees covered with snow, the frozen Travignolo stream, the valleys that seem to be made of cotton wool and the view of the imposing rocky spur of Cimon della Pala, also known as the "Matterhorn of the Dolomites".

Directions

  • Start

    Parking Pian dei Casoni

WAY UP Walk toward the wood along the valley where the stream Travignolo flows; pass first Malga Venegia (1778 m), then Malga Venegiota (1824 m). Go on to the road which turns slightly right (south) leaving on your left-side some summer trails and walk uphill passing in front of the ropeway conveyor that serves Mulaz mountain hut. Right after leave on your left-hand another trail to Mulaz mountain hut and with the steepest part of the track with some bends you will reach Baita Segantini (2174 m). In a short time, going north, you will get to Costazza peak (2282 m).
