Start
The car park at the Alpenrose Inn between Verano/Vöran and Avelengo/Hafling
Starting point of the hike is the Alpenrose Inn car park from where we walk along trail no. 11 to a saddle. We then follow the signs, first through a meadow, then through a beautiful forest and finally over a rock (the great Rotsteinknott). After about 40 minutes, we reach the Knottnkino (no. 14).
From there, we retrace our steps on trail no. 11 and head east to the Schützenbründlweg fork. We pass this on our right and continue following trail no. 11 in a sweeping arc to the left. We come across several boggy areas and ponds (Langes Moos) before we reach the Leadner Alm Alpine Farm, a pleasant inn for a refreshment stop. It’s about an hour from the Knottnkino to the inn. From the Leadner Alm, we follow the signs to Waldbichl, another inn, which we reach in 10 minutes.
From there we follow the signs along a trail heading to Rohrer (no. 15) and on a well-developed hiking trail (no. 16) running alongside the road, we finally reach the Grüner Baum Inn car park. This takes about 30 minutes.
We now turn sharply to the right to the Schützenbründlweg (trail no. 14), which takes us (in about 40 minutes) back to the saddle where we were atthe beginning of the hike (trail no. 11). Here we simply follow thefamiliartrail back to the car park. -
