  From the hamlet of Flading (parking lot) at the end of the Ratschingstal Valley (1,482m; refreshments served), follow trail no. 12 through the forest. Cross the steep meadows and continue as far as the Klammalm mountain hut (1,925m; refreshments served). Turn left and follow trail no. 12B southeast over grassy slopes to the ridge (2,481m) near the Kleine Kreuzspitze summit (2,518m; with an interesting detour) on the eastern slope of the Hohe Kreuzspitze. At every stage signposts mark the route up to the ridge, along the steep, grassy slopes and rocky steps to the west, ascending to the summit cross of the Hohe Kreuzspitze (2,743m). The return is down a steep ridge on the northwest face along trail no. 12, past a steep rock face, then through a shallow valley to the Butsee lake (2,340m). Continue along trail no. 12, (also known as the Pfeifer-Huisele-Weg) down to the Klammalm alpine pasture and back to the village of Flading.
