Guncina/Guntschna promenade - Description

After the Talvera Bridge, walking along streets with little traffic in the Gries district, you reach the beginning of the Guncina Promenade, dedicated to Archduke Henry of Habsburg. The promenade is one of the botanical icons of the city, in the district where it has developed its vocation as a tourist and health resort. The meandering path leads gently uphill along the porphyritic coast, adorned with beautiful Mediterranean vegetation with a sensational variety of Mediterranean and exotic plants for this latitude. The view over the city ranges from the urbanized part to the Colle/Kohlern, the Dolomites, the Bassa Atesina and the Oltradige with the peaks that adorn the landscape. At the highest point of the promenade, carefully cross the road to San Genesio/Jenesien and continue along the Rio Fago promenade, admiring the spectacular waterfall. Descend towards Bolzano and return to the starting point along the Talvera promenade.

Highlights: Panoramic views of the city, the Dolomites, and the Adige Valley.

With a stroller: accessible up to the road to San Genesio/Jenesien.
