Hike to Rifugio Tuckett - Description

In the beating heart of the Brenta Dolomites.
The walk to Rifugio Tuckett allows you to enter the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, in an extraordinary natural landscape.

Directions

  • Start

    Loc. Vallesinella

Here we suggest the route that leads to the mountain hut starting from Passo Grostè, which you can reach on the ski lift facility that goes by the same name.
From the uphill station of Grostè Cableway - Rifugio Stoppani (2440 m), you head out, following trail 316 (directions for Rifugio Tuckett).
The route travels down towards the small pass located above the Corna Rossa, where you cross trail 331.
You continue along trail 316, now between large and typical Dolomitic boulders. Continuing along the trail, you walk below the impressive “Torrione di Vallesinella” and, with a brief climb, you walk beneath the compact western face of the Castelletto Inferiore di Vallesinella.
In this way, you come to Rifugio F.F. Tuckett (2270m). From here, you can return the way you came, or you can get to the bottom following trail 317, which leads to Vallesinella, passing by RIfugio Casinei (1850m). In the latter case, from Vallesinella you return to the Fortini parking area via shuttle bus or taxi.

Tips for the tour

In the first part of the walk, don’t miss the opportunity to admire the tall pinnacles of Cima Falckner, Castello dei Massodi, and Castelletto, with their vertical north faces. At the mountain hut, you must take a picture with the majestic pillar of Cima Massari and the Hanging Serac of Cima Brenta in the background.
