Hike to the Rifugio Giovanni Pedrotti alla Rosetta - Description

Listen to the heartbeat of the Pala Group
The Rifugio Giovanni Pedrotti alla Rosetta is located on the large Pala Plateau, in the heart of the Natural Park Paneveggio Pale di San Martino.

Directions

  • Start

San Martino di Castrozza - Departure Lifts Colverde

After leaving the car park of the Colverde-Rosetta cable cars, take the wide dirt-track which zigzags up the steep ski slope. After about an hour, you reach the Rifugio Colverde (2,000 m) near the arrival point of the Colverde cable car and the start of the Rosetta cable car. From here, take route 701 on the right and after about 20 minutes, you leave the meadows and start to go uphill on rock. The trail continues up with a slight gradient for another 20 minutes, cutting diagonally under the path of the cable car. Here, the assisted section starts (metal cables, parapets) which winds its way up to the cable car pylon. The path is not very challenging and in about 30 minutes brings you out on the area where the pylon is located. From here, the path flattens out and takes you to the Altopiano delle Pale and the Rifugio Rosetta.
Alternatively, you could follow route 701a which takes you up to the end of the cable car run, where you turn left and take the path which reaches the cross of Rosetta in 15 minutes. There is an amazing view of the Vette Feltrine and Lagorai peaks, and the Pale di San Luciano mountain range to the north.
You can return to the starting point on the Rosetta and Colverde lifts, or along the same route you followed on the way up.
