On Alpe Cimbra bears disappeared in the years before the war. Even if today they are not present as before they are still remembered in the stories and legends that old people tell. Therefore it is not a surprise that in Luserna there is a path dedicated to bears … maybe with the hope of meeting him?
The place where this excursion takes place is Luserna, the living testimony of the German-Cimbra colonization of the XI-XIII century. An amazing place, characterized by both fields and woods, the perfect environment for the bear! At the Documentation Centre it is possible to visit the exhibition about the local fauna.

    Luserna Square

    From the main square of Luserna (the parking is nearby) follow the signs to Malga Millegrobbe di Sopra. The path goes through fir woods and fields until you reach the Military Cemetery of Costalta. Keep going until Baita del Neff (possibility to eat and drink): from here you start going back. Walking past Malga Costalta and fields, you reach Luserna Fort. Follow it for a bit and then turn on the route that will bring you back to Luserna.

Luserna/Lusérn can be reached from Trento along the SS349 of Val d'Assa passing through Vigolo Vattaro - Carbonare - Lavarone and Monterovere. It can be reached from Folgaria (25 km) following a stretch of the SS350 road (up to Carbonare) and continuing on the SS349 passing by Lavarone Bertoldi - Passo del Cost - Monterovere. Finally, it can be reached from the Alta Valsugana along the winding and scenic Menador street (starting from Caldonazzo).
