The "Strada delle 52 Gallerie" trail - Description

A work of extraordinary military technology
The excursion leads from Bocchetta Campiglia - Rifugio Achille Papa to the 'Porte del Pasubio' via the Route of the 52 Tunnels or Route of the First Army. The tunnels built during the First World War allowed the supply of the Italian troops stationed on the Pasubio, with a very daring path sheltered from enemy actions. Once you have reached the General Achille Papa refuge at Porte del Pasubio (1935 m), you can go up to Cima Palon along the historic tricolor path and return to Bocchetta Campiglia or Passo Xomo along the "Strada degli Scarubbi".

    Departure from Bocchetta Campiglia. Follow the signs for Strada delle 52 galleries and take path 366 which leads to the General Achille Papa refuge. Return from the same path or from the opposite side to Strada degli Scarubbi, covering the last stretch that rejoins Bocchetta Campiglia on an asphalted road.

self-arranged arrival
From Rovereto along the SS46 to reach Passo Pian delle Fugazze. After the pass, go down to Ponte Verde. From here turn left to Passo Xomo. From Passo Xomo continue towards Bocchetta Campiglia (about 1.5 km).
Bocchetta Campiglia car park. Parking fee of 5 € which can only be paid in coins (50 cents, 1 or 2 €). During busy periods (weekends in July and August, if the weather is good) it is advisable to arrive before 08.00 to find a place.
