Tour of refuges (F.F. Tuckett and Q. Sella, Casinei) - Description

A classic itinerary starting high in the mountains to see some of the Brenta Dolomites’ most famous alpine shelters. The incredible panorama is ample reward for the exertion of the hike.
An amazing, high-altitude hike in the company of the vertical faces of the central section of the Brenta Dolomites, along rolling false flats with amazing views of the Rendena Valley and the Adamello-Presanella mountain range. At the starting point, you can admire the magnificent Pietra Grande, which can be seen from the arrival station of the gondola lift, as well as Cima Grostè as soon as you get out of the gondola.

    Grostè lift, Passo del Grostè

    From the arrival station of the Grostè gondola lift, take the rocky, false-flat trail SAT 316 to Rifugio F.F. Tuckett e Q. Sella.
    Continue down along either trail SAT 317, which heads directly to Rifugio Casinei, or along trail SAT 328, which first heads out to Sella del Fridolin. From Rifugio Casinei, continue down to the Vallesinella parking area along trail SAT 317.

Tips for the tour

From Rifugio Tuckett, you can choose from four different via ferratas (proper equipment required).The itinerary is perfect for taking some great rock-themed photos.

self-arranged arrival
Reach the Grostè cableway, 1 km northwards Madonna di Campiglio along the main road SS239. To reach the cableway coming from Pinzolo, take the tunnel at the beginning of Madonna di Campiglio - avoiding the centre of the village - and go on towards Campo Carlo Magno for about 1 k after the tunnel exit. Coming from Dimaro, instead, pass Campo Carlo Magno and, after about 800 meters, arrive at the Grostè cableway.

In summer shuttle bus from the centre of Madonna di Campiglio (Brenta Alta square) up to Grostè cableway (from June to September).
